Search
Engine Optimization:
Google (and every other search engine) uses crawlers to go
out to webpages and search and index the content out on the internet, then then
us an algorithm to rank pages. Using tags (metadata), keywords in your
content, updating your content regularly, and linking pages within your website
can all increase your page’s rank. The
higher your page is ranked the closer it will appear to the top of a someone’s
search (with personalized searches—it is important to note that if you
frequently visit a site, it will be found at the top of your searches, so
visiting a PageRank site can help you figure out your rank for new visitors).
This is why it is important to identify the keywords your users will most
likely use for their searches, to be intentional in how you organize your
website and your twitter and Facebook posts.
By using twitter and Facebook you can let your fans know when you’ve put
up new content, and that encourages them to come, visit and explore your
site.
This can help you check your
website’s (and that of your competitors)
ranking.
Video Sharing
YouTube—you can share videos in up to 15
minutes of length. You can also
subscribe to other users’ channels.
Vimeo—another
video sharing platform. You can also
subscribe to other users’ channels.
Firewalls—a device or set of devices designed to
permit or deny network transmissions.
Networks may have overall firewalls, and individual computers might have
more restrictive firewalls. Some large
networks might limit access to social media sites like Facebook, twitter or
YouTube.
